From Today’s DC Examiner
“Washington Theatre has lost one of its up-and-coming stars. Shane Wallis, who had worked at many of DC’s theatres, from Theater J to Signature Theatre to Rorschach Theatre to Arena Stage, died in a motorcycle accident late on Thursday night.
Rorschach Theatre’s blog paid tribute to Shane, writing that “Shane only worked on two Rorschach shows, he made a deep impression on everyone who he came in contact with. He had an enthusiasm for life that was infectious. His smooth Southern drawl and his innate sense of himself made him compelling to be around both on and off stage.”
Like most actors, Shane Wallis had a day job, as assistant technical director at Theater J. Writing on the theatre’s blog, Artistic Director Ari Roth remembered Wallis as “sensitive, gung-ho, introspective, charming, dependable, friendly soul–an actor, a carpenter, a dad, a friend, a musician, a jack of all trades, a teacher, a dreamer.”
Shane’s family will be remembering him in his home state of Mississippi. Services for Shane were held this morning at Riverwood Family Funeral Home. The graveside service will be at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 2305 Pleasant Hill Dr SE Bogue Chito, MS 39629.
The local Memorial Service for Shane will be held on Monday, December 29th at Theater J at 7:00pm. There will be a reception following at 1409 Playbill Cafe.
