Bits and Peices (including Big News from the NEA!)

We certainly are busy over here at the theater. So busy that I haven’t written anything at all for the blog in a good long while.  And so busy that I can’t take much time to write anything now. But there are a couple of timely and exciting things that I would love to direct your attention to:

Monday and Tuesday night we have a very important event happening. As you may have already heard we are doing a reading of Akbar Ahmed’s play NOOR. Some of you may have seen the play when we read it as a part of our “Voices from a Changing Middle East Festival.” Not only is the play a fascinating look at the current situation in the Arab world but both nights will be followed by an amazing group of panelists. You can see the full list of panelists here. But I am particularly excited for His Excellency Ambassador Mahmud Ali Durrani, Pakistan ambassador to the United States on Monday night. And on Tuesday night the Editor in Chief of Muslim Girl, a magazine that makes me wish I was a Muslim teenager.

Theater J recieved some wonderful news this week, David in Shadow and Light has been awarded at $15,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to support the development of this exciting new play!
